The Employee Manager Signal Check
Does your manager know you as well as they think they do?
This check is about your experience with your manager. It is not asking whether your manager is a good or bad person. It is asking something more useful: how well do they notice you, understand you, communicate with you, and create enough trust for you to be honest?
A manager may believe a relationship is strong while an employee experiences it very differently. That distance matters. It can reveal a blind spot before it turns into a communication, engagement, or retention problem.
This is an awareness tool, not a performance review and not a complaint process. It is designed to capture your experience of the relationship so it can be compared, where appropriate and confidentially, with the manager's own perception.
There are no perfect managers and no perfect working relationships. The goal is not zero gap. The goal is to see where trust, communication, support, and awareness are strong, and where they may need attention.
Honest answers only help if people feel safe giving them. Employee responses should be handled confidentially and, for organizational reporting, aggregated wherever possible. This tool should never be used to identify or punish an individual employee for giving honest feedback.
